The Ministry of Sport and Tourism of Poland organised a seminar on Sport – University – Labour Market which was held in Warsaw on November 21st. The organisers invited experts and expert organisation representatives from the field. The high level audience came from various organisations representing the stakeholders in the sport and education sector of Poland, including the Polish Army.
The Sport Unit of the European Commission was represented by Mr. Bart Ooijen who has informed the participants about the EU initiatives in dual career, including the finalised EU Guideline on Dual Career of Athletes and future perspectives. Other international presenters were Stéphane Dehombreux, General Direction of Sport, Wallonia-Brussels Federation, Belgium, Dr. Judit Farkas, Semmelweis University in Budapest, Faculty of Physical Education and Sport Sciences, Hungary, Michael Hadschieff, KADA (Career Counselling and Work Integration for Athletes), Austria and Joanna Brehmer, sports manager from Poland.
EAS President, Tibor Kozsla presented the structure and main activities of the network, highlighting the importance of good practices and support services that EAS can provide for those countries and organisations where the system is not in function yet. The presentation was welcomed by the audience and the Polish Minister of Sport and Tourism, Ms. Joanna Mucha, who was interested in learning more details about the activity and service of EAS. The future steps will include awareness raising among the Polish sport stakeholders and direct linking between specialist and interested organisation from Poland.
