The first EAS study visit to INSEP in Paris at the beginning of April proved to be very successful. The visit attracted EAS members and representatives and was host to 20 delegates, from seven different countries and diverse organisations. INSEP were extremely hospitable and made every one very welcome. The study group was provided with one night bed and breakfast at the excellent INSEP facilities and enjoyed a beautiful social evening dinner in a typically Parisian restaurant in the heart of Bastille Square.
There were presentations throughout the first day informing the group about the functioning and organistation of INSEP, providing participants with a general overview of the role INSEP plays and how it operates. Participants were also given a guided tour of the modern and high spec training and education facilities which proved very insightful and informative.
The EAS executive committee also met on the afternoon of the second day for a meeting to discuss the upcoming activities and operations of EAS. The meeting was very fruitful and many positive changes will follow the meeting. There will be a new EAS website launched in the next few weeks that will be much more user-friendly and contemporary and will act as a great source of information and literature on Dual Career and related fields.
There will also be a competition to create a new EAS logo, this will be circulated soon across the member institutions and more information can be found soon on the new website. EAS now has a new and revised mission statement with achievable objectives that will drive the direction and activities of the organisation.
Make sure that you look out for information about the next study visit which will be in the autumn of 2011. It would be a shame to miss it! Further, if anyone/any organisation is interested in hosting a study visit then please do not hesitate to get in touch! It would be fantastic to hear from you!
