Dear Friends and Colleagues,
the Executive Board of EAS likes to thank all of you for your commitment in helping athletes pursuing their sport and academic careers!
In 2018, EAS has been very productive in promoting a dual career culture in Europe and beyond. The fruitful partnerships and cooperation with the European Parliament, the European Commission, the Council of Europe, EUSA and FISU have been consolidated through the participation in relevant events at European (e.g, European Sport Forum, EU Expert Group “Skills and Human Resources Development in Sport”, “European High Level Round Table on Learning Mobility”, Bureau of the “Consultative Committee of EPAS – Council of Europe”, EUSA Rector’s Conference) and worldwide (FISU Forum “Student sport: Springboard for innovative leadership“ and IOC Forum “Olympism in Action”) levels.
The active dissemination of our European Dual Career network further attracted new international members willing to exchange dual career best practices between countries and institutions, also attending the 2018 EAS Conference held in Coimbra, Portugal.
To promote co-operation between institutions, in 2018 EAS has been involved in two EU-funded Collaborative Partnerships: EMPATIA, focused on a dual career educational programme for parents, and AMID focused on the migrating athletes.
Furthermore, EAS will be Partner of EU-funded Collaborative Partnerships starting in 2019 (i.e., DONA, aiming to investigate, develop and test a Dual Career methodology for enhancing women’s volleyball athletes; EDU MEDIA, aiming to strengthen positive dual career attitude through media channels; More than Gold, aiming to create Dual Career Guidelines for higher education institutions and to strengthen dual career policies especially in the countries where this policy is at early stage; Starting11, aiming to facilitate and professionalize the implementation of dual career services in EU Member States through the creation of a European Dual Career Toolkit; and SOS, aimed to create a sport school environment at high school level).
We invite you to save the date September 18th-20th, 2019 to participate in the 16th Annual Conference of EAS at the University of Dalarna, Falun, Sweden.
This event will gather delegates of sport and academic institutions to share best practices, advancements of collaborative projects, and research findings.
